This is also a city of deep literary and cultural roots, producing Nobel laureates Yeats, Beckett and George Bernhard Shaw. Visitors could do worse than reading some of James Joyce’s Dublin-based works or brushing up on their Oscar Wilde.
Book nerds, architecture geeks, history buffs and even the trendiest influencers should all feel equally inspired and awestruck by the long room of the Old Library of Trinity College. It’s a place where content (a massive library collection full of early editions and rare gems) meets form (a beautifully designed and imposing grand hall) on equal footing and we can all feel slightly smarter having been to such a place.

If you think Dublin’s glory lies only in its past and old age, think again. Dublin isn’t just a promised land for nerds. Beer connoisseurs can spend a lovely and inebriated day in the Guinness Storehouse while whiskey-lovers can head straight to the Jameson distillery. And that’s not to mention the countless characteristic pubs Dublin has to offer and the colorful nightlife of this upbeat city. For the more sober visitor, a day spent in the Dublin Zoo or the National Botanic Gardens should both be unforgettable excursions in an otherworldly setting.
Either way, Dublin makes friends for life, so you don’t have to rush through the Dublin Castle, the Kilmainham Gaol (jail) or St Patrick's Cathedral, all in one weekend. Odds are, you’ll be back again to see your dear friend Dublin.
