Drinking in Dublin

A city rich in history, Dublin is the birthplace of Irish whiskey and home to the iconic beer Guinness. Dublin has a vibrant party culture and many different guided tours of various distilleries and breweries. Let’s explore how you can enjoy your time drinking in Dublin.

The Dublin Party Culture

The Dublin party culture is known as being one of the best in the world. You can choose to visit a traditional pub, a craft beer pub, a cocktail bar, or you can party the night away in one of the many nightclubs.

According to the local laws, alcohol can be served until 11:30pm Sunday through Thursday and 12:30am on Friday and Saturday. Even though alcohol may no longer be served, many bars will stay open until 2:30am, and there may also be a few after-hour parties available.

The Drinking Age Limit

The legal drinking age limit in Ireland is 18 years of age. You may be asked to show proof of age when purchasing alcohol, when going to clubs and bars, or when booking distillery or brewery tours.

Children under the age of 18 are able to physically be in a pub until approximately 9:00pm, but they are not able to order or consume alcohol.
